Basic Gingerbread Dough

  • 250 g butter, at room temp
  • 1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 cup golden syrup
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 5 cups plain flour
  • 2 teaspoons bicarbonate of soda
  • 1 tablespoon ground ginger
  • 12 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon

Directions

    Place butter, syrup and yolks in a big bowl.

    Beat till creamy using electric mixer.

    Stir in all other ingredients.

    Using your hands bring the dough together.

    Knead on a lightly floured surface until smooth.

    Set aside for whatever project you have in mind - will make one house or 24 cookies !
