- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1 c. sugar
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 3/4 c. milk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 c. flour, sifted
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 3 tsp. baking powder
Directions

1Cream shortening; add sugar and continue creaming until fluffy.

2Add eggs.

3Beat until light.

4Sift flour; measure.

5Add salt and baking powder and sift twice more.

6Add vanilla to milk. Add dry and liquid ingredients alternately to creamed mixture. Beat until thoroughly blended.

7Bake 25 to 30 minutes at 375°. Makes 2 (8-inch) layers.
