- 9 c. sifted flour
- 2 pkg. yeast
- 1/2 c. warm water
- 1 c. scalded milk
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1 c. water
- 2 eggs
Directions

1Measure 9 cups sifted flour (reserve 1/2 cup for kneading). Soften 2 packages yeast in 1/2 cup warm water.

2Combine 1 cup scalded milk, 1/2 cup sugar, 1 tablespoon salt, 1/2 cup shortening.

3Add 1 cup of water.

4Cool to lukewarm.

5Add softened yeast.

6Blend in 1/2 of flour and beat well for 1 minute (may add crushed seeds of cardamom here).

7Add 2 unbeaten eggs and blend thoroughly.

8Blend remaining flour in gradually and stir until all of flour is worked in.

9Amount will vary from 4 to 4 1/2 cups. Let rise until doubled.

10Punch down and form into desired roll shapes.

11Let rise until doubled.

12Bake 15 to 20 minutes in 400° oven.
