Basil Brown Sugar Shortbread

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 12 cup brown sugar
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 2 14 cups flour
  • 5 -6 leaves fresh basil, minced

Directions

    Preheat oven to 300*.

    Cream together butter and sugar til light and fluffy.

    Add flour and blend until well incorporated.

    Add in basil and knead until smooth, about 3 minutes.

    Now you can pat the dough out into a 1/3 inch thick rectangle and cut into 2 inch x 1 inch strips or you can crumble the dough evenly over an ungreased sheet pan for a more rustic presentation.

    Bake at 300* for 25 minutes until bottoms are golden brown.

    Remove to a wire rack to cool.
