Bean Pot Soup

Ingredients
- 1 c. dried navy beans
- 1 (1 lb. 4 oz.) can tomatoes
- 1 carrot, cubed
- 1 beef bouillon cube
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 1 Tbsp. shortening
- 3 qt. water
- 1 c. diced celery
- 1 potato, cubed
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 1/2 lb. ground beef
- 1/4 c. rice
Directions

1Wash the beans.

2Add to the water and bring to a boil.

3Boil 2 minutes. Remove from heat and let the beans soak for 1 hour. Simmer the beans for 20 minutes. Add tomatoes, celery, carrot, potato, rice, onion, bouillon cube, salt and pepper.

4Brown the ground beef in shortening.

5Bring soup to a boil.

6Add the meat. Cover and simmer for 1 hour.
