  • 1 lb. navy beans
  • 3 qt. water
  • 3 Tbsp. margarine
  • 1 c. onion, diced
  • 2 celery ribs, diced
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 1 lb. ham, cubed
  • 1 (8 oz.) tomato sauce
  • 3 dashes of ground cloves
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 tsp. minced garlic
  • dash of Worcestershire
  • dash of hot sauce
  • salt and pepper to taste
