- 2 lb. white beans
- 1 smoked ham hock
- salt and pepper to taste
Directions

1Cover beans with cold water and soak overnight.

2Drain and recover with water.

3Add the ham hock and simmer slowly for about 4 hours, until the beans are cooked tender.

4Season with salt and pepper as desired.

5Just before serving, bruise or mash beans with a large spoon to cloud the soup.
