- 1 lb. Northern beans
- 1 ham hock
- 1 medium potato
- 1 carrot
- 2 ribs celery
- 1 medium onion
- 1 tsp. salt or to taste
- pinch of soda
Directions

1Wash beans and soak overnight in cold water.

2Cook cleaned ham hock in 2 cups water in a pressure cooker at 10 pounds for 30 minutes or cook in a large cooker pan.

3Add more water.

4Remove ham, clean and peel vegetables.

5Chop all vegetables very fine. Pour vegetables in cooker.

6Add beans.

7Cook until beans and vegetables are done.

8Serves 6 to 8.
