  • 1 pound dry navy beans
  • 7 c. water
  • 1 ham bone
  • 2 c. cooked ham, minced
  • 1/4 c. chopped onion
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 bay leaf
  • Dash of pepper

Directions

    Rinse beans.

    Heat beans and water to boiling; boil gently 2 min.

    Remove from heat; cover and let stand 1 hour.

    Add in remaining ingredients.

    Heat to boiling, then reduce heat; cover and simmer for several hrs.

    Crock pot works great for this.

    Remove bone before serving.
