  • 1/4 c. soy sauce
  • 3 Tbsp. sugar
  • 3 Tbsp. rice wine (Shaoxing) or gin
  • 1-inch chunk ginger, sliced
  • 1 star anise
  • 1 2-inch stick of cinnamon
