  • 1 1/4 to 1 3/4 c. unsifted flour
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. grated lemon peel
  • 1 pkg. yeast
  • 1/3 c. milk
  • 1/4 c. water
  • 2 Tbsp. margarine
  • 1 egg
  • coconut topping and vanilla cream filling

Directions

    In large bowl, mix 1/2 cup flour, sugar, salt, lemon peel and yeast.

    Combine milk, water and margarine in saucepan.

    Heat liquid (120° to 130°).

    Gradually add to dry mix.

    Beat 2 minutes on medium speed.

    Add egg and 1/2 cup flour.

    Beat high 2 minutes. Stir in more flour to make soft dough.

    Cover and rise in oven until double (30 minutes).
