  • 1 lb. ground chuck
  • 1 Tbsp. shortening
  • 1/4 c. chopped onion
  • 1 c. chopped celery
  • 2 1/2 c. tomatoes (No. 2 can)
  • salt and pepper
  • 4 c. shredded cabbage
  • 1 c. soft bread crumbs

Directions

    Brown chuck in shortening.

    Add onion and celery; cook 5 minutes.

    Add tomatoes, salt and pepper.

    Place 1/2 in casserole; cover with 1/2 of cabbage.

    Repeat layers.

    Top with bread crumbs. Bake at 375° for 45 minutes.
