Beef Mandarin Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lbs. stewing beef
  • 1 onion, minced
  • 1/4 c. salad oil
  • 1 1/2 c. water
  • 1/3 c. soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp. sugar
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger root, grated
  • 3/4 c. orange juice
  • 1 1/2 c. celery, cut diagonally
  • 1 (5 ounce.) tin water chestnuts
  • 1 pkg. American mix Manhattan frzn Green Giant vegetables
  • 2 tbsp. cornstarch
  • 3-4 mandarin oranges or possibly pineapple chunks

Directions

    Brown meat and onion in warm oil in heavy saucepan.

    Add in water, soy sauce, ginger, sugar and orange juice.

    Bring to a boil, cover and simmer for 1 1/2 hrs.

    Add in celery, water chestnuts, frzn vegetables, let simmer five min.

    Mix cornstarch with 1/4 c. cool water and add in to mix to thicken.

    Add in mandarin oranges or possibly pineapple and heat.

    Serve with rice.
