Ingredients

  • 2 lb. round steak, cut in 1-inch chunks
  • 1/4 c. flour
  • 2 Tbsp. Wesson oil
  • 2 (8 oz.) cans Hunt's tomato sauce
  • 1/4 tsp. basil
  • 6 each: small carrots, onions, potatoes (pared and quartered)
  • 1 c. sliced celery
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 2 c. hot water

Directions

    Coat beef with flour in large heavy saucepan or skillet.

    Brown beef in Wesson oil.

    Stir in water, Hunt's sauce and seasonings. Cover, simmer 1 1/2 hours; add vegetables and simmer until done, about 45 minutes.
