  • 1 lb. stew beef
  • 1 Tbsp. Wesson canola oil
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 2 potatoes, cut up
  • 1 turnip, diced (rutabaga)
  • 2 carrots, sliced
  • 1 stalk celery, sliced
  • 1 onion, chopped up
  • 1/2 tsp. bouquet sauce
  • 1 beef bouillon cube
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 2 Tbsp. flour (self-rising)
  • 3 c. water

Directions

    Brown stew beef in oil about 5 minutes.

    Add water, salt, pepper, potatoes, turnip, carrots, celery, onion, bouquet sauce, bouillon cube and bay leaf.

    Cook over medium heat for about 1 1/2 hours or in oven at 350° for 1 1/2 hours.

    Mix flour and 1/2 cup water (cold).

    Add to stew beef to thicken for gravy.
