- 2 lb. beef chuck, cut into 1 1/2-inch cubes
- 1 small can tomato sauce
- 2 c. water
- 1/4 tsp. thyme
- 6 diced carrots
- 6 potatoes, cubed
- 1 small can green peas
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 2 bay leaves
Directions

1Flour meat cubes.

2Put in thick pan with 2 tablespoons fat and brown.

3Pour in liquid, cover tightly and cook over low heat until almost tender (about 1 1/2 hours).

4Add spices and raw vegetables; cook 30 to 45 minutes longer.

5Just before vegetables are tender, add the peas.

6Serves 6.
