  • 1 1/2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 pounds stew meat lean
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 whole garlic cloves
  • 2 fresh bay leaves
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 dash all-spice
  • 2 cups carrots ea chopped, chopped celery, diced russet potatoes
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/3 cup water

    In a large skillet, brown meat in vegetable oil

    In large stock pot, add browned beef, beef broth, garlic,bay leaves and spices. Simmer for 2 hours.

    Add carrots, celery and potatoes, and another cup of broth. Simmer for another 45 minutes.

    Put cornstarch in a separate bowl and mix with water. Draw about 1 cup of hot broth from stock pot and slowly whisk in with the cornstarch.

    Add the cornstarch to the stock pot and bring to slow boil for 4 or 5 minutes to thicken the broth.

    Serve hot with home baked sturdy bread. Enjoy
