- 1 lb. round steak, 1/2-inch thick
- 2 Tbsp. hot shortening
- 1/4 c. cut up onion
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 2 Tbsp. flour
- 1 1/2 c. tomato juice
- 4 oz. can mushroom stems and pieces
- 1/2 c. Pet evaporated milk
- 1 Tbsp. lemon juice
- 3 c. cooked noodles or rice
Directions

1Cut steak into 3 x 1-inch strips.

2Brown strips in shortening in 10-inch skillet.

3Add onion, salt and pepper.

4Blend in flour, then tomato juice and mushroom stems and pieces, drained.

5Cover; cook over low heat 1 hour, until meat is tender.

6Stir in mixture of milk and lemon juice.

7Heat until steaming, but do not boil. Serve over noodles or rice.
