  • 6 slices Bacon
  • 1 tablespoon Minced onion
  • 2 pounds Lean stew beef cubes
  • 1 pinch Salt and pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Flour
  • 2 cans Beef consomme
  • 1 piece Bay leaf
  • 1 pinch Thyme
  • 1 pinch Garlic salt
  • 1 tablespoon Wine vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar

Directions

    Fry bacon until crisp. Crumble in 2-quart casserole.

    Sprinkle minced onion over bacon.

    Brown beef cubes in drippings with salt and pepper. When browned, sprinkle with flour.

    Stir well. Remove from heat.

    Add consomme gradually, stirring constantly. Bring to a boil. Remove from heat.

    Add to casserole.

    Add bay leaf, thyme, garlic salt, vinegar, and sugar.

    Cover and bake at 325 degrees for 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
