Beef Tomato Chowder

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. 12 oz. can chopped but not drained tomatoes
  • 1 Tbsp. butter or margarine, melted
  • 1/2 c. chopped onion
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 (4 oz.) can mushrooms (undrained)
  • 1 pkg. frozen mixed vegetables
  • 3 c. water
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. sweet basil
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper

Directions

    Saute onion in butter; add beef and brown well.

    Drain off excess grease.

    Stir in remaining ingredients.

    Bring to boil, stirring frequently.

    Simmer, covered, 25 minutes, or until serving time.
