Beer Baked Beans

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. spicy bulk sausage
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 (48 oz.) jar Randall Great Northern beans
  • 1 (15 to 15 1/2 oz.) can pinto beans, drained
  • 1 (15 to 15 1/2 oz.) can black beans, drained
  • 1 (15 to 15 1/2 oz.) can white beans, drained
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. bottled smoky flavor barbecue sauce
  • 1 to 2 Tbsp. Dijon-style mustard
  • 8 to 12 oz. beer (depending on how moist you prefer your beans)

Directions

    Brown sausage, breaking up, and saute onion in the same pan. Drain and crumble into large bowl. Add all the beans, brown sugar, barbecue sauce, mustard and beer.

    Pour into bean pot or casserole dish and bake, uncovered, at 300° for 4 to 5 hours, checking for moisture content by 3 1/2 hours.

    (You can always stir in more beer if beans are too dry.)
