  • 8 qt. fresh beets
  • 1 tsp. cloves
  • 1 qt. vinegar
  • 10 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 c. water

Directions

    Leave root and 1-inch of stem on beets.

    Scrub well with vegetable brush.

    Place beets in saucepan and add enough water to cover.
  4. 4
    Bring to boil.

    Cover and cook 35 to 40 minutes or until tender; drain.

    Pour cold water over beets and drain again.

    Let cool.

    Trim off beet stem and roots and rub off skins.
