  • 1 (1 lb.) can shoestring beets
  • 1 (1 lb.) can cut wax beans, drained
  • 1/4 c. white vinegar
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1 medium onion, peeled, quartered and thinly sliced
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 10 cloves

Directions

    Drain beets.

    In small saucepan, mix liquid from beets with sugar, vinegar, cloves and salt.

    Bring to a boil.

    Mix beets with beans and onion and pour hot liquid over them.

    Refrigerate, covered, for several hours or overnight.

    Makes about 8 servings.
