- 2 cups strawberries fresh
- 13 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/4 teaspoon lemon zest
- 2 teaspoons cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons cognac
Directions

1Sauce for fruit or ice cream.

2Yields about 1 1/2 cups for standard serving size.

3Blueberries may be used instead of strawberries.

4Cook berries in sugar (more if fresh) just until hot.

5Add lemon juice, grated lemon rind and simmer 5 minutes.

6Force through a sieve.

7Mix together cornstarch and cognac until smooth; Add berry mixture and cook over low heat, stirring constantly until it is clear and thickened.

8Sauce may be served hot or cold.

9Serve over fruit or ice cream.
