  • 1 egg
  • 2 c. buttermilk
  • 1/2 c. sweet milk
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 2 c. cornmeal
  • 1 or 2 Tbsp. bacon grease drippings

Directions

    Beat all ingredients except bacon grease into a thin batter. Use a heavy iron skillet to heat grease (bacon), then sprinkle a little cornmeal on bottom to make a crust.

    Pour batter into hot skillet and bake at 450° for 25 to 30 minutes.
