- 1 c. flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 1/2 tbsp. shortening or oil
- 3/8 c. milk
Directions

1Sift flour, salt and baking powder together.

2Work in shortening with a knife or fingertips; add milk to make a soft dough.

3These are dropped a tablespoon at a time on boiling soup or stew for the last 15 or 20 minutes of cooking.

4Kettle must be covered tightly and cover must not be removed during cooking. Makes 12 to 15 dumplings.
