  • 2 c. self-rising flour
  • 1/3 c. melted shortening
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • pinch of salt
  • pinch of baking soda

Directions

    Make a well in the flour and add the shortening, buttermilk, salt and soda.

    Stir until dough leaves sides of bowl.

    Turn out on floured board and work slightly.

    Pat out to 1/2-inch thickness.

    Cut biscuits out and place in pan or on cookie sheet. Bake at 450° for 20 minutes.
