- 2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 1/4 c. shortening
- 3/4 c. fresh buttermilk or sweet milk
- 1/4 tsp. soda (if buttermilk is used)
Directions

1Measure and sift dry ingredients into mixing bowl; add soda to buttermilk.

2Cut in shortening with blender or fork.

3Add buttermilk and stir well.

4Remove fork and knead lightly to form a smooth dough.

5Toss on a lightly floured cloth or board.

6Roll to 1/2-inch thickness.

7Cut and place on oiled baking sheet.

8Bake 12 to 15 minutes at 450°.

9Serve hot.

10Makes 2 1/2 dozen biscuits.
