- 2 c. flour
- 4 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1 egg (unbeaten)
- 2/3 c. milk
Directions

1Sift flour, baking powder, salt, sugar and cream of tartar into bowl.

2Add the shortening to flour mixture and blend together until of corn meal-like consistency.

3Pour milk into flour mixture slowly.

4Add the egg; stir to stiff dough.

5Knead five times; roll and cut.

6Bake on a cookie sheet at 450° for 10 to 15 minutes. These biscuits can be cut out, placed on sheet and frozen, then baked as usual as needed.
