  • 2 c. flour
  • 4 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 egg (unbeaten)
  • 2/3 c. milk

Directions

    Sift flour, baking powder, salt, sugar and cream of tartar into bowl.

    Add the shortening to flour mixture and blend together until of corn meal-like consistency.

    Pour milk into flour mixture slowly.

    Add the egg; stir to stiff dough.

    Knead five times; roll and cut.

    Bake on a cookie sheet at 450° for 10 to 15 minutes. These biscuits can be cut out, placed on sheet and frozen, then baked as usual as needed.
