- 1/3 c. shortening
- 2 c. plain flour
- 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2/3 c. milk
Directions

1Heat oven to 450°.

2Combine flour, baking powder and salt.

3Cut shortening into mixture until it is fine crumbs.

4Stir in just enough milk so dough leaves side of bowl; round up into ball.

5Turn dough onto lightly floured surface.

6Knead lightly 10 times.

7Roll or pat dough 1/2-inch thick.

8Cut with floured 2-inch biscuit cutter.

9Place on ungreased cookie sheet about 1-inch apart for crusty sides.

10Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown.

11Makes about 16 biscuits.
