- 2 1/2 c. flour
- 2 c. brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 egg
- 3/4 c. buttermilk
- 1 c. shortening
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. soda
Directions

1Measure flour, brown sugar, salt and cinnamon.

2Mix well.

3Add shortening, baking powder and soda.

4Combine egg and buttermilk. Stir into mixture and beat smooth.

5Oil and flour a long pan or 2 cake pans.

6Bake for 45 minutes at 350°.

7Check with toothpick to see if done.

8Use as a dessert with ice cream or serve as a cornbread.
