  • 1 1/2 slices stale bread
  • 1/4 c. milk
  • 3/4 lb. chuck, chopped
  • 1 medium onion
  • butter
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 Tbsp. white cornmeal
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 1/8 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/4 c. dry white wine (could also vary by substituting with red)
  • 1 tsp. chopped parsley

Directions

    Crumble slices of stale bread and soak in milk.

    Add ground beef (chuck) and onion (finely chopped) and sauteed in butter; add beaten eggs, uncooked white cornmeal, salt, pepper and a little nutmeg.

    Combine the mixture thoroughly and let it stand for 1 hour or more.
