- 1 1/2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
- 3/4 c. plus 2 Tbsp. unsweetened cocoa
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 1/3 c. butter
- 2 c. sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1/4 c. corn syrup
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 2 c. coarsely chopped walnuts or pecans
Directions

1Preheat oven to 350°.

2Grease a 9 x 13-inch baking pan.

3Sift together flour, cocoa, salt and baking powder.

4Cream butter and sugar in mixing bowl.

5Add dry ingredients, mixing well.

6Beat in eggs, corn syrup and vanilla and mix thoroughly.

7Stir in nuts. Spread in prepared pan and bake 40 to 45 minutes or until soft in center and edges are slightly firm.

8Do not overbake.

9Let cool completely before frosting and cutting into squares.
