- 1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
- 1 egg
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- 6 oz. chocolate chips
- 1 1/2 c. flour
- 1 c. sugar
- 1/4 c. cocoa
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 c. water
- 1/3 c. oil
- 1 Tbsp. vinegar
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- chopped nuts (for topping)
Directions

1Beat together the cream cheese, egg, 1/2 cup of sugar and 1/8 teaspoon salt.

2Stir in the chocolate chips and let stand.

3Sift together the flour, 1 cup of sugar, cocoa, soda and 1/2 teaspoon salt.

4Add the water, oil, vinegar and vanilla.

5Beat well together until blended.

6Fill cupcake papers 1/3 full with the chocolate batter, then top with heaping teaspoonfuls of the cheese batter and sprinkle with chopped nuts.

7Bake at 350° for 25 minutes.

8Makes 1 1/2 dozen.
