Ingredients
- 1 1/2 c. flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
- 1/8 tsp. allspice
- 1 1/2 c. crushed wheat cereal flakes
- 1 c. black walnut pieces
- 3/4 c. chopped apple
- 1 egg, slightly beaten
- 3/4 c. brown sugar
- 1 1/2 c. buttermilk
- 2 Tbsp. oil
Directions

1Sift flour with baking powder, soda, salt and spices.

2Stir in cereal flakes, walnuts and apple.

3Combine egg, brown sugar, buttermilk and oil.

4Add flour mixture.

5Mix just enough to moisten dry ingredients.

6Do not beat.

7Turn into well-greased 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan.

8Bake at 350° for 1 hour, or until tester inserted in center comes out clean.

9Let stand in pan 10 minutes. Remove to rack to cool completely.

10Yields 1 loaf.
