  • 1/2 lb. butter
  • 1/2 c. Crisco
  • 3 c. sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 5 tsp. rum flavoring
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 3 c. cake flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 c. half and half cream
  • 1 c. chopped black walnuts

    Cream butter and shortening well.

    Add sugar and beat until light and fluffy.

    Add eggs one at a time.

    Add flavoring and beat again.

    Add dry ingredients alternately with cream; start with flour and end with flour.

    Add walnuts which have been lightly floured.

    Bake in greased and floured tube cake pan at 325° for 1 hour and 20 minutes.

    Cool cake 10 minutes before removing from pan.
