- 2 c. sugar
- 1 c. Crisco
- 4 eggs
- 3 c. plain flour (White Lily)
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1 tsp. buttermilk
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 c. black walnuts
Directions

1Cream Crisco and sugar until light and fluffy.

2Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.

3Sift together flour and soda; add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk and vanilla.

4Beat well.

5Fold in walnuts.

6Spoon batter into 3 greased and floured 9-inch cake pans.

7Bake at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes or until done.

8Cool thoroughly on wire racks.
