- 1 c. butter, softened
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 3 c. sugar
- 5 eggs
- 3 c. flour
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 c. milk
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1 c. chopped black walnuts
Directions

1Beat butter and shortening at medium speed for 2 minutes or until soft and creamy.

2Gradually add sugar; beat at medium speed for 5 to 7 minutes.

3Add eggs, one at a time; beat until yellow disappears.

4Combine flour and baking powder.

5Add to creamed mixture alternately with milk (begin and end with flour).

6Mix just until blended after each addition.

7Stir in vanilla and walnuts.

8Bake in a greased and floured tube pan at 325° for 1 hour and 30 minutes.
