- 2 c. sugar
- 1 c. butter
- 4 eggs
- 3 c. plain flour
- 1/2 tsp. cloves
- 1 tsp. nutmeg
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1 1/2 c. fresh or frozen drained blackberries
Directions

1Cream sugar and butter together; beat eggs and add to creamed mixture.

2Combine flour, spices, baking soda and baking powder. Stir into creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk.

3Carefully fold in blackberries.

4Bake at 350° in 3 greased and floured 8-inch cake pans for 30 minutes.

5Cool and frost with icing.
