  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1 c. shortening
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. each nutmeg and cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 2 c. blackberries, cooked with juice

    Preheat oven to 350°.

    Grease and flour three 8-inch pans. Cream the sugar and shortening.

    Add eggs.

    Mix flour and spices. Mix with sugar mixture. Add berries and mix well.

    Pour into greased pans and bake 30 to 35 minutes or until done.

    Cake should be moist. Don't overbake.
