- 1 qt. blackberries
- 1/2 cup hot water
- 1 dash salt
- 1 dash cinnamon
- 3 tbsp. cold water
- 2 tbsp. cornstarch
- 1-1/2 cup sugar,
- to taste
Directions

1Wash and pick over berries, discarding any imperfect ones.

2Combine berries, hot water, sugar, salt and cinnamon in a saucepan.

3Bring to a boil, stirring well.

4Reduce heat and simmer gently 5 to 8 minutes.

5Add 3 tbsp.

6cold water to the cornstarch to make a smooth paste.

7Blend into hot cooking berries.

8Stir constantly until berries are slightly thick and translucent in color, approximately two to three minutes.

9Serve cold with milk for breakfast or with whipped cream for dessert.
