- 1 qt. blackberries
- 1 stick margarine
- 1 3/4 c. sugar
- 3 c. self-rising flour
- 1/2 c. Crisco
- 3/4 c. iced water
Directions

1Mix first 3 ingredients and bring to a boil in a deep dish pie pan.

2Work Crisco into the flour as if making biscuits.

3Then work in the iced water, making a dough for dumplings and crust.

4Flour the board and roll the dough out with rolling pin.

5Roll thin, then cut in 1-inch strips all across the board.

6Have the berries boiling and drop dumplings all across the pan, dipping the juice over the dumplings and making sure to cover good.

7Then roll a top crust while berries are still boiling.

8Place cover on pie.

9Cover the top with butter and then sugar.

10Place in oven and brown the top, being careful to not let burn.
