- 4 egg yolks
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 c. flour
- 1/4 c. butter
- 4 Tbsp. milk
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 4 egg whites
- 1 c. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
- chopped pecans
Directions

1Cream butter and sugar; add beaten egg yolks.

2Add baking powder to flour and add alternately with milk.

3Spread on 2 buttered round cake tins.

4Beat egg whites until stiff, adding cream of tartar.

5Add sugar gradually.

6Place meringue on top of cake batter; sprinkle with chopped pecans.

7Bake 25 to 30 minutes at 350°.

8Spread layer with whipped cream (strawberries may be added to whipped cream).

9Top with second layer and enjoy!
