- 2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 Tbsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. grated orange rind
- 1/3 c. shortening
- 1 egg, beaten
- 3/4 c. buttermilk
- 1/2 c. fresh or frozen blueberries
- 3 Tbsp. butter or oleo, melted
- 3 Tbsp. sugar
- 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/8 tsp. nutmeg
Directions

1Combine flour, baking powder, soda, salt, 1/2 cup sugar and orange rind in a medium bowl; cut in shortening with a pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse meal.

2Combine egg and buttermilk.

3Add to flour mixture, stirring just until dry ingredients are moistened.

4Stir in blueberries.

5Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface,

6knead 4 or 5 times.

7Roll dough to 1/2-inch thickness.

8Cut with a 2 1/2-inch biscuit cutter. Place on lightly greased baking sheet.

9Bake at 400° for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
