  • 2 c. boiling water
  • 2 c. raisins
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. oil
  • 2 eggs
  • pinch of salt
  • 4 c. plain flour
  • 1 c. chopped nuts

Directions

    Boil water, raisins and baking soda for 2 minutes. Set aside and let cool. Cream sugar and oil. Add eggs, salt, flour and nuts. Mix together with raisin mixture. Bake in 6 well-greased cans (cans are No. 2 size, like English peas, corn, etc.). Fill cans half full. Bake at 300° for 55 minutes.
