Ingredients
- 2 pkg. dry yeast
- 1/4 c. water
- 1 egg
- 1 c. milk, scalded
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1/4 c. shortening
- 1 tsp. salt
- 3 1/2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
Directions

1Mix yeast in warm water.

2Set aside.

3Combine milk, sugar, shortening and salt; mix well.

4Add 1 1/2 cups flour.

5Beat well. Add yeast and egg.

6Gradually add remaining flour, forming soft dough.

7Place in greased bowl.

8Cover and let rise until double (about 1 1/2 to 2 hours).

9Knead and pinch off a small amount of dough.

10Roll a strip about 6-inches long.

11Tie in bowknot.
-
12Bake in preheated oven at 450°.
