Braised Lamb Shanks

Ingredients
- 2 lamb shanks
- garlic, fresh giner,
- star anise
- 1/2 cup diced carrots
- 1/2 cup sliced onions
- 1 cup chicken broth or white wine
- Handful of barley
- cooking oil
Directions

1In a heavy pot, brown lamb shanks in some oil.

2Remove lamb.

3add onions, carrots, garlic (last)

4gently saute' aromatics and carrots till soft.

5Add wine/or broth. 2 star anise, barley

6Return the lamb to the pot

7bring dish to simmer and cover. after an hour, add salt/pepper to taste.

8continue cooking until meat falls off the bone. Remove bones, and continue simmering until barley is soft.

9Serve hot with cooked rice.
