Braised Red Cabbage

- 1 large head red cabbage (about 3 lb.)
- 1/4 c. margarine
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 c. cider vinegar
- 1/2 c. water
Directions

1Cut cabbage in half.

2Wash and drain, then core and shred. Melt margarine in a heavy type kettle on low heat.

3Add shredded cabbage and saute for five minutes.

4Add sugar, salt, vinegar and water.

5Toss until mixed.

6Cook 1 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally.

7Makes 8 to 10 servings.
