Braised Red Cabbage

- 1 Tbsp. butter or margarine
- 1 small head red cabbage, cored and thinly sliced
- 1/2 tsp. salt (optional)
- 1/8 tsp. black pepper
- 1 Tbsp. brown sugar
- 1 Tbsp. cider vinegar
- 1 c. chopped onion
- 1 Golden Delicious apple, peeled, cored and thinly sliced
- 1 c. warm water
Directions

1Melt butter or margarine in a large skillet.

2Add onion. Saute for 1 minute.

3Add cabbage and apple and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

4Combine salt, pepper, brown sugar, water and vinegar.

5Add to cabbage mixture and cook, covered, over low heat for 30 minutes.

6Serve hot or cold.

7Makes 6 servings.
