Braised Round Steak

Ingredients
- 1 lb. round steak
- flour
- 1 Tbsp. shortening
- 1/2 bay leaf
- 1/2 tsp. diced onion
- salt and pepper to taste
- 4 medium carrots, cut in 1/2-inch pieces
- 2 c. hot water
- 2 bouillon cubes
- 4 medium potatoes, cut in half
Directions

1Cut steak in serving pieces or in thin strips.

2Dissolve bouillon cubes in the hot water.

3Dredge meat in flour.

4Brown on both sides in shortening.

5Add bay leaf, onion, salt and pepper, water with the bouillon cubes, carrots and potatoes.

6Cover and cook over low heat 50 minutes or until meat and vegetables are tender.

7(I like to add zucchini the last 15 minutes of cooking time.)
